Kleine Zalze Styled Wine Shoot

Bakkes Images recently shot a series of images for the marketing and promotion of Kleine Zalze's latest vintages. The styled product shots were done on location at Terroir Restaurant on the estate under the food styling and preparation of renowned chef Michael Broughton whose masterful creations complimented the wine and photographs perfectly.

Tech Talk: The outdoors shot of the Chenin Blanc was executed in a shady area of the restaurant to avoid unnecessary glare and sun spots. A silver reflected filled in the shadows in order to bring life to the food and the label on the bottle. The bottle was deliberately chilled to sufficiently cold conditions to provide the spritzed effect and guide the viewer to the summer feel as briefed by the client.

Further, a wintery scene was requested by the client to cover their marketing efforts in cold rainy season by providing a warm fire lit setting with a beautiful duck pie and red wine combo. The light from the fire created a nice warm feel to the shot while we used a single studio light on the left of the shot to light the food and wine and boost the colors in the product. I personally like the reflection of the food in the glass of the bottle adding a sense of realism and content to a part of the shot that would otherwise have rendered itself dark and uninformative.
